Robert Lee Strickland, Sr (1941-2024)

Robert L Strickland of Zephyrhills, FL, died at the AdventHealth Zephyrhills Hospital on December 22, 2024 after battling illnesses for several months.

Bob Strickland was born in Powellton, WV, on April 20th, 1941, to Rex and Cornia. Bob was the fifth of nine children and the first son to Rex and Cornia. Bob started working to help support the family at an early age. Bob joined the Army at 17 and served for 27 years rising to the rank of Command Sergeant Major prior to retiring in 1985. Upon retiring from the military, Bob went to work for Morrison Knudsen where he quickly moved into management running operations stateside and in Germany.

Bob Strickland was preceded in death by Rex and Cornia and by his sisters Anna May, Betty Jane, Juanita, Eloise, Phyliss and Alice Jo and by his brothers Eddy and Teddy Ray. Bob was also preceded in death by his eldest son Robert L Strickland, Jr. Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Joann and by his children Andy, Joe, Kathy and Charles. He is survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service and remembrance will be held Saturday December 28 from 1:30pm-3:00pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home at 36327 State Road 54, Zephyrhills, FL. His remains will be interred at Bushnell National Cemetery at a date to be scheduled.
