Robert "Bob" Louis Hughes, 72, of Kathleen, Florida, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

Bob was born in Pennsylvania and moved at a young age to Dade City, Florida. He attended Pasco and King High School where he graduated in 1965. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for 4 years. Bob married Delores in 1967 and had two wonderful children who he is very proud of. Bob and his father-in-law, James "JE" Howard, operated Rocking X Ranch and P&H Dairy for many years. Once finally retired, Bob enjoyed his time fishing with friends, especially his family, as well as, enjoying his time in Englewood, Florida.

He is survived by loving wife Delores. They have shared 53 incredible years together; his two children, daughter Lisa Barnett and husband Kerry and their two children Chellsey and Dylan; son Robbie Hughes and wife Deana and their three children, Jaeden, Emily, and Hunter, all of Kathleen, Florida; his mother, Mary Hughes Douglas of Zephyrhills, Florida; eight brothers and sisters, Earl Hughes and wife Ellen of Florida; Becky Vining of Nevada; Peggy Johnson and husband Pat of Florida; Shirley Kouma and husband John of Tennessee; Jerry Hughes and wife Nancy of Florida; Pat Woolweaver and husband Guy of Florida; Mark Hughes of Florida; and Mary Jo Poyner and husband Dennis of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Francis Hughes Sr.

The family greatly appreciates and would like to thank all those that have comforted them during this sad time. Further, the family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff of Lakeland Regional Medical Center, especially those in Palliative Care who took care of Bob during his last hours.

Visitation honoring Bob will be on Saturday, January 4, 2020 starting at 1:00 pm with service at 2:00 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home located at 11441 Highway 301, Dade City, Florida. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens (next to the funeral home). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Hospice organization or DAV.
