Obituary

Robert “Rabbit” George Beiersdorfer passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on February 21, 1928, in Brooksville, Florida, he was affectionately known as "Rabbit," a nickname he earned as a youngster for his remarkable speed and quick feet. The name remained with him throughout his life and became one by which many family members and friends knew him best. He lived a life marked by hard work, service, and a deep appreciation for simple pleasures.

Robert was a dedicated member of Spring Lake Church. He was also a proud Mason and valued the principles of brotherhood, charity, and service that guided his involvement throughout the years.

Robert proudly served in the United States Navy, carrying with him a sense of duty and pride in his country throughout his life. Following his military service, he worked a lengthy career in fresh fruit and vegetable inspection, ultimately retiring as a Fruit Procurement District Manager at Lykes Pasco Inc., a career that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication.

Outside of work, Robert found great joy in caring for his cows and spending time outdoors. He was a proud member of the Hernando County Cattlemen’s Association. He loved farm life and took pride in the animals he cared for. His family and friends will fondly remember his appreciation for the land, his steady presence, and the wisdom he shared through the years.

In his later years, Robert continued to enjoy life through crafts, games, and the friendships he made along the way. His creativity, good humor, and willingness to participate brought joy to those around him.

Robert will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of family, his devotion to the people and things he cared about, and the quiet strength that defined his life.

Robert is survived by his three children, Glenn (Susan) Beiersdorfer, Elaine Huetcher, and Brenda Adams; four grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Tyler Adams, Taylor (Aaron) Denton, and Christina Huetcher; and five great-grandchildren, Christian Houck, Noah Houck, Lawren McCullough, Carolyn Denton, and Connor Denton. He is also survived by his sister, Juanita Martello.

He leaves behind many family members and friends who will cherish their memories of him and carry his legacy forward.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Floyce Myers Beiersdorfer; his parents, Elsie Beiersdorfer-Kilday and George Beiersdorfer; his siblings, Doris DeWalt, Joan Kuka, and James Beiersdorfer; and his sons-in-law, Jim Huetcher and Kenny Adams.
