The family of Richard Switzer is saddened to announce his passing on March 6, 2026. Richard was born on January 6, 1951, in Norwich, New York.

Richard spent much of his life working in construction, where his strong work ethic and natural skill for building and fixing things served him well. He was the kind of person who was always willing to lend a hand, and friends and family often relied on him for help with projects, repairs, and anything that needed to be built or mended.

Earlier in life, Richard was married to Joan, and together they raised their sons. In 1987, Richard and his sons moved to Florida, where he built the next chapter of his life and continued the work and relationships that meant so much to him. He met Barbara and they married in October of 1989.

Richard was loved by his extended family and many friends. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others, his practical skills, and the quiet ways he showed care for the people around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Janet and Herbert Margraves, and his wife, Barbara Switzer.

He is survived by his children: Kalvin Switzer (Jessi), Stephen Switzer (Aimee), Kristen Doherty (Barry), and Joshua Ryle (Lindsay); and his grandchildren: Chance, Addison, Brody, Connor, Shelby, Bryce, Anderson, and Brayden.

A celebration of life will be held on March 21, 2026; 1-3pm at 7318 23rd Street, Zephyrhills FL

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice.
