"Still looking for a bad day". Richard G McCall, age 87, beloved husband of Mary Guilday McCall, passed away January 27, 2019 in Dade City, Florida. Originally from Detroit, he lived in Miami and Lexington, Mississippi before moving to Dade City 20 years ago. He was loved by friends and family for his Irish wit, kindness, Irish tenor and positive outlook on life. Whenever he was asked, "How are you" he always replied "Still looking for a bad day". He was a cantor at St. Rita Catholic Church and sang in the choir along with his wife and step-daughter Kathleen Hotchkiss. Every St. Patricks Day he dressed up in green and visited the library and shops downtown spreading Irish cheer.

Although Dick loved his Irish roots, he also loved Marys Portuguese heritage. He worked tirelessly setting up the monthly dinner dances at the Portuguese American Club in Port Richey. The annual Feast of the Holy Ghost was dear to his heart as well as the Our Lady of Fatima Festa. The members of the club loved him and will miss his smiling face.

He had a large family. Siblings: Beverly June Pomaville & Donald McCall (deceased), Annabelle Herrada, and Catherine Lee. Children: Roberta Mary Slagle, Mary Loretta (Molly) Ziya, Mary Eve Cooper, Frances McCall (deceased), Patrick McCall, James McCall, Michael McCall, Erin McCall, Ivy McCall, and Riley McCall.

His step-family included daughters Kathleen Weaver Hotchkiss, Maria Weaver Guilday (deceased), Elizabeth Weaver Dodge (deceased), Henry Emory Weaver Jr. (deceased), and Johanna Weaver Sanchez. He was Dad to all of them for 37 years.

He loved and was greatly loved by his blended family of 14 children, 29 grandchildren, 21 great grand children and 1 great great grandchild.

Put on your finest green accessory- a shirt, tie, hat, vest, scarf or shoes and come celebrate the life of Richard (Dick) McCall. A viewing and celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 14404 14th St., Dade City, Florida 33523. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am, mass will begin at 11am. Internment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens and then a reception at St. Ritas. Arrangements are being handled by Hodges Family Funeral Home.
