October 6, 1929 – November 23, 2019
Richard Lassor "Grandpa", 90, left us on November 23, 2019 to join his beloved Reesie and family. He was 1 of 14 children born to Albert and Fedelia on October 6, 1929 in Rutland, Vermont. Following his brothers lead, Richard joined the Armed Forces and while serving 6 years in the US Army he participated in the Korean War earning him the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Medal, and 3 Bronze Stars.
After leaving the service he traveled about and made his way to St. Petersburg, Florida where in 1976, while working together, he met Clarice Munch and they became Life Partners for the next 35 years.
In 1998 they moved to Zephyrhills to be near family and made it their forever home. After her passing in 2009, Richard remained in Zephyrhills and could be seen all over town riding the bus and walking the streets making friends at every turn.
He is survived by his siblings, Jean, Joan, and Leonard; along with his niece, Karen of Dover, NH with sister, Helen in Old Town, Florida. His extended Florida family includes Penny/Jack of Tampa, Joseph/Noy Munch of Tampa, MaryAnn of St. Petersburg, and grands, Robbie, Marilyn, Shelly, and Laura. Services will be conducted at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Highway 54, Zephyrhills, FL 33541 on Saturday, November 30 at 11:30 a.m. with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Military Honors will be rendered by the VFW of Zephyrhills.
