Richard L. Lane, Jr. 79, of Trilby, FL passed away on Friday, September 4th, 2020. He was born April 24, 1941 in Monticello, FL to Richard Lane Sr. & Lucinda Peck Lane. He was a US Marine Corp Veteran and retired from Pasco High School, in Pasco County FL.

Richard attended FAMU in Tallahassee, FL, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture and his Masters in Education. Richard was an Agriculture teacher for Pasco County Schools for thirty-five years, where he retired. After his retirement, he continued his love of Agriculture by continuing to grow many different fruits and vegetables for the community as a business.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Richard (Lucinda) Lane of Monticello, FL; his sister Rachel (Louis) Anderson of Port Charlotte. He is survived by his wife Mae Lane of forty-seven years, daughter Cindy (Anson) Johnson of Hallandale Beach, FL; daughter Laura Lane of Trilby, FL; son Richard Lane 3rd of Trilby, FL. He is also survived by his sister Laura Flynn of Jacksonville, FL; his brother Stephen Lane of Monticello, FL. He is also survived by a number of other loving family members who will greatly miss him.

Richard was a loving father. He was a loving husband. He also provided education to many people in the area. When he was teaching at Pasco High School, he was affectionately known as "Daddy Lane" by his students. He enjoyed helping others reach their goals. As an educator, he wanted to see all of his students be successful. As a father, he demanded his children be educated, so that they could stand on their own. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Per Richards request, there will be a private graveside memorial at Florida National Cemetery on September 8, 2020 at 2pm. Per Richard and the familys request, friends and those who are unable to attend, please celebrate his life in your own way at your own time. There will not be a gathering or repast after the graveside service. Thank you for your love, support, and respect of his wishes. He will be deeply missed.
