Richard Ephraim Herrick 05/05/1937 04/23/2023 Richard Herrick, 85, of Lake Jovita in Dade City, Florida, passed away on April 23, 2023 at Advent Health Hospital in Dade City, FL. He was born May 5, 1937 in New York. He graduated from Cranford High School where he was an exceptional lefty pitcher. Though recruited by some professional baseball teams, he decided his future was better served by attending college. He went to Union Junior College and Farleigh Dickinson in New Jersey. He also served in the US Army National Guard. Richard had an extensive career in Pipe Lining and Engineering Management, and also worked as a consultant to develop the use of robots in pipeline assessment. He started his own company and developed a new process to investigate and line pipes. During his career he was able to travel extensively and lived in NJ, PA, and CA. He later happily retired to Florida. He was very proud of his family, and was married to Elaine Spaier Herrick. He had two daughters, Veronica Adams of Virginia and her spouse Randy Adams, and Christine Flack of Pennsylvania and her spouse Rich Flack, with Mary Ann Esslinger, who preceded him in death in 1990. He also had two stepdaughters, Jennifer Rick-Wagner of New Jersey and her spouse Robert Wagner, and Allison Rick of Florida thru Elaine. Richard was very fortunate to have seven wonderful grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He believed in service to the community, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus, and the Dade City Garden Club, where he is thought to be the only man ever elected President of the club. He also enjoyed reading, golfing, and many other hobbies. His memorial service will be at Hodges Funeral Home Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 10:30am in Dade City. He will be interred in Allentown, NJ.
