Richard Foy Harris "Rick"
Richard Foy Harris, affectionately known as "Rick," passed away on August 1, 2026, at the age of 76, in Land O' Lakes, Florida. He had been residing at Keystone Memory ALF, In Land O’ Lakes, Florida.
Rick was born on October 5, 1949, in Decatur, Georgia, to Lafolette Foy Harris and Sara Catherine Gunter Harris. He grew up alongside his brother, Robert L. Harris.
On May 8, 1997, Rick married the love of his life, Sandra F. Harris, in Englewood, Florida. Together they shared many happy years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Rick attended Decatur High School in Decatur, Georgia, before beginning a successful career in the furniture industry. He worked as a wholesale furniture representative for Hooker Furniture, where he earned several awards in recognition of his dedication, professionalism, and outstanding work ethic.
Rick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean era. His military service reflected the same commitment and integrity that he demonstrated throughout his life.
Over the years, Rick made his home in Sarasota, Englewood, and most recently Brooksville, Florida.
Rick enjoyed staying physically fit and had a passion for collecting watches, taking great pride in his collection. He will be remembered as a kind, friendly, and accommodating man who genuinely enjoyed being around people. He loved adventure, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was often the life of the party. Family gatherings were among his greatest joys, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. Above all, Rick was known as a devoted son who deeply loved and cared for his mother.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Harris of Brooksville, Florida; his daughter, Sharon Lynn Throckmorton; his grandson, Lawson Throckmorton; and his grandchildren, Phoebe and Jay Throckmorton, twins born on July 29, 2009. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Rick's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, loyalty, and love. He touched countless lives with his warm personality, infectious smile, and willingness to help others. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
