Ramona Gail Lopez, also known as “Grandma Lopez”, passed on the morning of March 26, 2026 at the age of 81 in Dade City, Florida.
Ramona was born on July 9,1944 in Scottsboro, Alabama to parents Noah and Opal Shelton. She was raised alongside 6 siblings: Mabel, T, Herman, Marie, Ann, and James, and Ramona was the youngest of the family.
In Dade City, Ramona was a local cosmetologist for many years. Her and Enrique Lopez married in 1972 and recently celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary. She was a devoted Wife, Mother & Grandmother who cherished her family. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and treasured every moment spent with them.
She enjoyed music, social media, and crossword puzzles, flowers, and always had a special love for her pet birds and enjoyed raising and caring for them. She loved and collected pictures and paintings of wolves and Indians. She always loved to reminisce about the good old days and spoke frequently about the loved ones that had passed before her.
Known for her endless humor, she always had a joke to share or a story to tell. She had a feisty personality and was always bold and very outspoken. Purple was her favorite color, reflecting her vibrant spirit. She had many many lifelong friends she loved like family. Above anything else she adored being a Grandmother.
Ramona is survived by her Husband Enrique Lopez and three sons, all from Dade City: Johnny Bryant, Scott (Selena) Lopez, and Noah (Darcie) Lopez. Ramona is also survived by 9 beloved grandchildren: Alexis, Blake, Madelyn, Dylan, Cara, Brayden, Gavin, Leah, and Corbin. And one great grandchild Oakley.
She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
