Dr. Ramesh Subbayya Hegde, 81, of Wesley Chapel, Florida died peacefully in his home on Thursday October 7, 2021. Memorial services will be held at a time and place to be determined. Dr. Hegde was born October 1, 1940 in Karkala, India. On May 26, 1969 he married Sucharitha Hegde with whom he raised two sons, Sanjay and Vikram. A devoted father and husband, he was also a gifted student of science who achieved his PhD at the age of 28 and continued on in the field of chemistry throughout his life. In 1971 he moved to the United States with his wife to further pursue his career and saw great success in the field of water purification with the Millipore corporation. As a husband and father Dr. Hegde showed his wife and sons the world with many trips to foreign and domestic locales, always broadening his familys horizons and reminding them how much there is to know and learn in this world. He was viewed as a father figure by many in his community, always welcoming those new to the country from India to share his wisdom and a seat at his table. In his later years he drew immense pleasure from spoiling his four grandchildren and watching in fascination as they grew right before his eyes. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sucharitha Hegde, his older son Sanjay along with his wife Tanya, his younger son Vikram along with his wife Alexandra, his four grandchildren Miles, Anika, Nolan, and Viyona, his younger brother Suresh Hegde and his younger sister Sarala Shetty. He was greatly loved and respected by his community and will be sorely missed.
