It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rafael A. Fernandez, who left this world peacefully on August 13, 2025, at 9:22 p.m., surrounded by the love of his family.

Born with a spirit full of adventure and a heart for his family, Rafael was more than just a father—he was a guiding hand, a playful spirit, and a steady source of strength. Whether it was on the softball field, the basketball court, out on the water skiing, sleigh riding in the snow, or on the open road during cross-country trips, Rafael created countless memories that his loved ones will cherish forever. He believed in keeping life full of activity, laughter, and togetherness.

Rafael was a man who valued respect, loved deeply, and welcomed people with warmth. He was well-liked and loved by many whose lives he touched. His journey was not without challenges—after being diagnosed with heart problems, he faced each setback with courage. Though his health declined in recent years, his resilience and determination inspired those around him.

Rafael is preceded in death by his beloved son, Rafael E. Fernandez; his sisters, Lily Santiago and Lizzy Santiago; and his parents, Lydia Ayala Nieves and Juan Fernandez Gonzalez. He is survived by his devoted wife, Myrna; his children, Rafael Fernandez Jr., Cesar Rodriguez, Favio Rodriguez, Eric Rodriguez, Nyciale Fernandez, Myrna Fernandez, and Nadia Fernandez; his siblings, Juan Carlos Fernandez, Nelson Fernandez, Janet Fernandez, and Eddie Santiago; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Rafael's legacy lives on in the lessons he taught: to live life with joy, face challenges with strength, and love without reservation. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Funeral arrangements will take place on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 36327 Pure Water Way, Zephyrhills, FL 33541, with viewing at 2:00 p.m. followed by a religious service at 3:00 p.m.
