Obituary

Pierre Leigh Thomas, 89 years old of Dade City, FL passed away surrounded by family on January 8, 2021. Pierre was born February 2, 1931 in Vermont, IL. He enlisted in the Navy and served as an E6 Medic Corpsman during the Korean War. After the war, he married Mary Frances Baldridge. He served as the Secretary for the State of Florida Multiple Sclerosis Society after being retired from the Navy with MS. Pierre graduated with honors from the University of Tampa as a big brother of the fraternity Delta Sigma Pi with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and started working as an accountant with Hillsborough County for 4 years before he ventured into real estate and founded Century 21 Brandon Realty. Pierre was a member of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Tampa Realtors Association, The Paralyzed Veterans Association, the Disabled American Veterans, and The Elks Lodge. He leaves a legacy of founding the Mission Bell Day Lily Farm where he had hybridized and developed the now famous Cherokee Mary Daylily, which was named after his wife, Mary.

Pierre is survived by his wife, Mary, his son Phillip (Kathy), his daughter Diana (John), three grandchildren, Johnathan, Kenneth and Jason, six great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.

His love for this country, the American flag and the freedom that this republic was founded by our forefathers will always ring in his family's memory. Private military services will be done on a future date.
