Peter J. Barnicle III, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2022 at his home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Pete was born on July 16, 1943 to Peter and Mary (Shea) Barnicle. He was a graduate of Cohasset High School and attended Assumption College prior to joining the United States Navy. He retired after a 20-year career as Master Chief Boatswain. In retirement, Peter enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his wonderful friends. He never missed an opportunity to connect with family when they were in the area and enjoyed escaping the heat of Florida during the summer to visit family in the Northeast. Peter will be missed by his surviving family - nieces Brenda VanDzura of Yarmouth, Maine, Kathleen Koenig of Newcastle, Washington, and Maureen Vanderheiden of Omaha, Nebraska, as well as his nephew Kevin Desmond of North Yarmouth, Maine. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Patricia Desmond, and his close friend and sister-in-law, Mary Desmond. The family will hold a memorial mass in the spring.
