Brock, Pete Hutchison, 100, of Dade City, FL passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2026. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Pete served with the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II, and graduated from the University of Florida in 1951. He moved to Dade City in 1952 and worked for Lykes Pasco for 46 years in sales, management, and marketing.
Pete was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Louise, and his son Pete Hutchison Brock II. He is survived by his daughters Nancy Johnson (Leonard), Haley Jones (Bruce) and Natalie Brock. Grandchildren Brock Johnson (Courtney), Paige Dingman (Chris), Sydney Jones-Terbrueggen (Josh), Spencer Jones, Carson Brock, Coleman Brock (Alexis), Connor Mack Brock (Claudia), and Ashton Brock. Great grandchildren Davis and Virginia Dingman, Carter Johnson, Collier Brock, and Margaret Brock.
Pete was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and was also active in his community. He served as a founding board member and past president of Downtown Dade City Main Street. He was instrumental in establishing the Dade City Redevelopment Association (CRA) and served on the first CRA Advisory Committee.
Pete was a member and past president of the Dade City Rotary Club and was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He was a past member and moderator of the Board of Trustees of the Dade City Hospital. Additionally, he was involved in Little League, the Chamber of Commerce and the Boy Scouts, receiving the Soaring Eagle Honorary Award in 2012. In 1995 Pete received the Clara Barton Community Spirit Award given by the American Red Cross to recognize individuals who have shown commitment and dedication to the community. In 2026 Pete received Rotary’s Dick Tombrink Lifetime Achievement Award.
Pete’s deep faith sustained him and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the “My Legacy” Endowment fund of the First United Methodist church of Dade City, Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 12, 2026, at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Dade City. Everyone is invited to a luncheon in the Christian Life Center immediately following the service.
