Paul Steven Herrmann passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the age of 81. His peaceful death was at home under the guidance of Gulfside Hospice.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph John and Rose Amelia Herrmann, beloved sister Rosemary Herrmann and brother Edward Herrmann. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Wanda, his daughters: Leslie (Jon) Auvil, Ashlie (Leigh) Dummeldinger, Andrea (Michael) Mastry, and Elizabeth (Steven) Whitaker; and son Stephen (Kristine) Herrmann. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Beaumont, Barbara (Sam) Sessa, and Mary Sue Keenan; and brothers Joseph (Ceil) Herrmann, Johnny Herrmann, and Gregory (Danielle) Herrmann. His remaining family includes 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Sadie, numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was born in the Jovita Building and was a lifelong resident of San Antonio, FL. He graduated from St. Leo Prep, St. Leo College, and the University of Florida with a B.S. degree in Horticulture. He was awarded a prestigious scholarship to intern at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. This sparked his lifelong love of Horticulture. For over 40 plus years, he owned and operated Herrmann's Nursery and is known for the cultivation of the Herrmann Red Crepe Myrtle. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kumquat Region Antique Car Club, Fun T Antique Car Club, FNGLA, the Pioneer Florida Museum, and the Pasco County Historical Society.
Paul will be remembered for his generosity, his loving heart, his kindness, and his devotion to his wife, family, and friends.
A memorial mass will be held at 10am Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Joseph. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 4-6pm at the church with a Rosary to follow at 6:15pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Joseph, Florida, or to Moffit Cancer Research Center.
