Paul David Forsythe
On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, Paul David Forsythe, a beloved husband and father, passed away at the age of 86. Paul was born to David and Elva Forsythe and lived most of his childhood in the Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls and Hallie, Wisconsin area.
He graduated from Chippewa Falls High School and attended college at the University of Wisconsin in River Falls and Eau Claire. He then joined the US Army where he was a radio operator and sang in a military quartet for USO shows, hospitals, officers clubs and contests. The quartet won 2nd place in a European concert among others over their years of touring.
Paul worked a variety of jobs including installing and testing electric meters and other equipment for Northern States Power (NSP) in Amery, WI and then Pacific Power and Light (PP & L) in Albany, Oregon.
Paul is survived by his wife Kay, his children David (Kari), Robert (Laurine), Colleen (John) and William (Monnica) as well as nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, David and Elva and sister, Darlene Manley.
Reading and Music were a big part of his life. He loved playing guitar and singing, camping, travelling, golfing, canoeing and fishing among many other hobbies. He traveled in the Army, on missionary trips, and vacations to Germany, England, France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Scotland, Greenland, Guatemala, Honduras and others. Paul enjoyed playing and watching many sports, but his favorite teams were the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed coaching Little League baseball for his boys. He loved spending time fishing and camping in Trego, Wisconsin. His favorite book, besides the Holy Bible, was "A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23" by Phillip Keller. He always enjoyed a good steak with a dessert of pie and ice cream.
Paul volunteered in a multitude of roles over many years for a variety of organizations including churches he attended, Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, Kiwanis, Emergency Medical Technician, and Plateau Pregnancy Center, mentoring disabled adults, The Wisconsin Challenge Academy, and the Military Honor Guard among others.
His favorite scripture was Philippians 3:9-13 which says, in part "not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God. That I may know him and the power of his resurrection"
Paul wants to be remembered as a caring, enjoyable, honest, sharing Christian man.
There will be a Celebration of Life in honor of Paul Forsythe at the First Baptist Church in Wesley Chapel, Florida on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm. A private interment will be held at a later time in Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest a donation to the Plateau Pregnancy Center in Crossville, Tennessee.
