Obituary

Patricia B. Raposa 1960 2023

Patricia B. Raposa of Dade City, Florida, was celebrated home on November 22, 2023.

She was a native of, and lifelong resident of, her formerly-beautiful cherished eastern Pasco County, Florida, and a 1978 graduate of Pasco Comprehensive High School.

She was a collector of heart-songs and a prolific contributor to FindAGrave.

Patricia Elizabeth was a fifth-generation Floridian and a descendant of the Howell, Smith, Goethe and Sunday settlers of Pasco and Hernando counties. Ancestors include John G. Howell and Manning Smith, charter members and original line officers of Dade City (originally Fort Dade) Masonic Lodge No. 48, as well as John J. Howell, charter member and original line officer of Trilby (originally Twin Lakes) Masonic Lodge No. 141.

Possessing a well-deserved reputation as bossy, exacting, obstinate, stubborn and hardheaded, Aunt Patty had a keen interest in accurate local history. It was Newton A. (NA) Carter who donated the land for Mt. Zion Cemetery in 1881. Too, Newton is buried at Cycadia Cemetery, not Mt. Zion. In all found documents he is listed as NA, never as the unsubstantiated Newton Augustus. Newton, born in Georgia in 1845, married Mary Howell, daughter of John G. Howell.

Tricia Bug is the daughter of the late M. Kathleen (ne) Kirkman, the late Claude D. Brown, Sr., and the late J. Wyley Rosier; and sister of the late David B. (Rosier) Brown.

She was the light of her Mamas life. She knew, cause her Mama told her so.

Her Daddy couldnt have loved her more had she been born to him. She knew, cause her Daddy told her so.

Her birth father wept for his missing her. She knew, cause her bonus mother told her so.

She is survived by her love, husband of 44 years Lynn Raposa; her beloved son, Benjamin, and treasured daughter-in-love, Laura; and her heart, adored grandson Grayson, with whom Granny will eternally share an extraordinary bond; a much-loved circle of family and friends; and her intimate tribe trusted of heart-singers. In lieu of flowers, plants and wildlife killing balloons, please consider a donation in her memory to Gulfside Healthcare Services, Inc., 2061 Collier Parkway, Land O Lakes, FL 34639.
