Patricia Jean Hunsicker

Patricia died peacefully on Friday, May 2nd at home attended by her devoted and loving husband of 43 years, Thomas Hunsicker Sr. She bravely fought a very aggressive disease.

Pat was born to Phyllis and Vincent Carey in Queens, New York. She grew up in Merrick, New York. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Malloy College in 1973 with a BSN. Patricia demonstrated a lifelong commitment to helping people and her career focused on patient care. Pat started her career at Franklin General Hospital on Long Island before moving to the Washington D.C. area. She worked at George Washington University Hospital and Sibley Memorial Hospital before completing her career at Kaiser Permanente HMO. While at GWUH she met and married Tom on September 6, 1981. They lovingly raised a son, Thomas Jr., and a daughter, Christina.

After retiring Tom and Pat moved to San Antonio, Florida, where they resided at Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club. She became a member of the St Anthony of Padua Church where she served as treasurer of the woman's club for two years as well as helped with numerous church projects.

Pat loved to be active within the community and participated in Mah Jong groups, Trivia nights, Woman's Bible Study, Tootsies, and Book Club. Pat also participated in many holiday events taking place within the community. She enjoyed helping to plan and participate in many of these events. Pat was indeed a "people person." In school she was nicked named "Chatty Patty" as she loved to engage in conversation with people both known and unknown. Often, she would make a new friend and strived to help others when in need.

Pat is survived by her husband Thomas SR. Her children Thomas Jr and daughter Christina live in Rockville MD. Her brothers and sister: Dr. Kevin (Joan) Carey of Vero Beach, Ft., Barbara Comerford (Robert) of Sedgwick, Maine, Dr Stephen Carey (Erica) of Seaford Delaware, Timothy Carey (Kathleen) of Denville New Jersey, Sean Carey of Manorville, New York, and her sister Mary Ellen Sampson (Joseph) predeceased her. Her in-laws as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on June 6, 2025, at St Anthony of Padua in San Antonio, FL at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
