Obituary

Patricia Joan DeRosier Shafchuk, aged 72, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, in Port Richey, FL. Born on June 4, 1952 in Dade City, FL, Patricia dedicated 35 years to teaching English and Spanish at Hudson High School, shaping the lives of countless students with her knowledge and compassion.

Patricia was known for her selfless and charitable nature, always finding the good in people. Her life was a testament to the power of positive thinking and the impact one individual can have on their community.

She is survived by her sons, John Paul Shafchuk (wife Sofie ) and Ryan Patrick Shafchuk (wife Tori); her sisters, Irene DeRosier and Carol Sharer (husband Bruce); her grandchildren, Connor, Carson, Kendall, and Kinsley Shafchuk; her niece Gioia Guerrieri and her son Johannes; and nephew David Schambeau (wife Andrea) . Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Helen DeRosier; sisters, Suzanne DeRosier, Leone Schambeau, and Jean Guerrieri; and nephew, Sam DeRosier.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, located at 8014 State Rd 52, Hudson, FL. A cemetery service will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, SR 52, San Antonio, FL. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 11549 Curley Rd, San Antonio, FL 33576.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Friends of the Poor ( ssvpusa.org/donate ) honoring Patricia's lifelong commitment to charity and community support.
