Obituary

Norman Norm R. Burns, of Dade City, Florida passed away peacefully on September 13, 2016. Norm was 74. Norm is survived by his wife, Peggy (Beeler) Burns, father Miles Burns, and sister, Nancy (Robert) Casey. He was a generous and loving guide for his children who have also survived him: Susan (Mathis Wackernagel) Burns, Terri (Steven) Wymore, David (Joanne) Burns and Michael (Colleen) Burns, and stepchildren Jay (Stephanie) Fultz and Kristin Fultz, an adoring Grandfather to seven grandchildren: Jessica, Ian, Andr, Anna, Matthew, Jessica and Jack as well as a nephew, Callum and a niece, Caroline. He was preceded in death by his mother Lee (Kobylar) Burns and his biological father, Norman Knobloch. Early in his career, Norm served as Vice President of Human Resources for Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. In the 1980s he founded Organization Dimensions, Inc. and pioneered patient-centered, high-quality healthcare in the hospital industry. He continued with this focus throughout the rest of his career, extending his tools and concepts beyond hospitals to nursing homes and other health care facilities. Norm was also a gifted executive coach, supporting small business owners in Florida. He held a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management from Loyola University in Chicago. Playing golf was a passion for Norm, but golf was more than a sport for him - it was a context for his belief in human potential, viewing golf as a metaphor for life. Norm was student of cosmology, human psychology and spirituality, which fed his curiosity about people and our place in the universe.
