Nelson Perez, 64, of San Antonio, Florida passed away at home, surrounded by his family. He was born in New York City, New York on September 8, 1957 to Buenaventura and Jose Perez Sr., joining his older brother Jose Perez Jr. completing their family of 4. Nelson graduated from Central Commercial High School and went on to work within the Emergency Services Department of the New York Housing Authority.
He met Frances Alvarez while breaking up wedding arrangements between their best friends. The two became inseparable and on June 30, 1979 they were married at Central Baptist Church in Brooklyn NY. The day was filled sweltering heat and they rushed to enjoy their melting ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins first. Nelson was always there for Frances as she gave birth to their beautiful daughter Elise Perez.
Nelson enjoyed motorcycles, playing with the newest technology, long road trips, playing music too loud, going to concerts, a good joke, and watching horror movies- just like his father before him.
He was at work when he heard about the tragedy of 9/11/2001. He was a first responder and worked to set up emergency communications down near Ground Zero for months. He also tirelessly supported his wife within the NYPD who was also a first responder and daughter through those unprecedented times.
He and Frances moved to San Antonio, Florida after retirement. Hoping to enjoy a life of travel and relaxation.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 43 years Frances Perez; Daughter: Elise Perez Aurelia and her husband, Daniel Hardesty Aurelia; His spiritual daughter: Angela Joseph- Pauline; several aunts and uncles; His grand pups (Mya, Maui, and Loki), cat Kahlua), chinchilla (Mickey), and fish (Kanye West).
