Neal W. Marshfield, 75, of Zephyrhills, FL, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday morning, March 20th. He was born at his family home in Onondaga County, NY to Lester & Mary Rouse Marshfield, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Split Rock Elementary, Onondaga NY, and West Genesee High School in Camillus, NY, graduating in 1958. Upon graduating, he joined the US Air Force and went into airborne radar training. He served during the Vietnam Conflict as a radar technician onboard several aircraft. Neal was very proud that he served his country and was a veteran. His service in the Air Force brought him to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, HQ ASD. That was his home base while flying missions to and from Shemya AFB AK. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for Globe Industries. He also was a truck driver for many years for Pre-Fab Transit, achieving a safe driving record for the entire time he worked for Pre-Fab. Then he went to work for Ace Freight Lines, Dayton, OH, and then later went to work for the City of Kettering Street Department, Kettering, OH. Still driving trucks, he plowed snow in the winter (thus the move to Florida. After living in Syracuse, NY, working on the Aleutian Islands in AK, and living in Dayton, OH he was ready for the move to Florida). He said he was tired of the snow and cold. He retired from the street department in 2006 and he and his wife, Pam, went on the road full-time RV until they decided to become full-time Floridians in 2012, then selling their truck and 5th wheel. Neal always enjoyed motorcycles. Thanks Warren Brewer, for loaning Neal your motorcycle to take his OH motorcycle license test. He had many small ones, but his boss at the time at the City of Kettering, Nevin Weidel, introduced him to the Gold Wing. He fell in love with that bike and so did Pam. Neal and Pam have had several Gold Wings and traveled thousands of miles on the wing, traveling to all but 4 states. They also traveled to 5 Canadian Provinces. Neal and Pam are Life Members of Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA). Neal served on several positions with Chapter F, Fairborn, OH before he and Pam accepted the Chapter Director position. They also rode many trips with other chapters in the area. He was also a member of Zephyrhills Gold Wing Chapter FL 1S, and also a member of Chapter 055 of the Southern Cruisers. He truly loved to ride. They have many happy memories from their Gold Wing adventures. After Pam decided not to ride anymore, Neal continued riding up until the time he had to go to the hospital. Neal finally moved up to a Gold Wing Trike in 2015, as he felt safer on it, since he had knee problems and was afraid he would drop the 2-wheeler. He loved that trike. He loved going to Hole-in-One Donut Shop to chat with his motorcycle friends and anyone else who would want to join them at the tables. Neal is continuing riding that beautiful Gold Wing Trike in Heaven. Neal and Pam attended Faith Baptist Church in Zephyrhills. Neal enjoyed living at Waters Edge RV Resort and loved playing holey washers with the fellows. He also enjoyed working on the WEHOP (Waters Edge House of Pancakes) team who cooked breakfast every other week at the park. He was the sausage and potato fryer. Neal was also the popcorn maker for the movies on certain Saturday nights here at the park. Neal is survived by his wife , Pam Rigney Marshfield and their little Yorkie, Jazzi Belle; daughter, Kim Collier, West Carrollton, OH; son, Tim Marshfield, Columbus, OH; 4 grandchildren: Michael & Elizabeth Collier, Fairborn, OH, Christopher Collier, Kettering, OH, Heather Collier, Dayton, OH, Lauren Collier, West Carrollton, OH; 7 great grandchildren: Trenton, Shawn, Kailen, Jazmine, Colton, Bryson and KingsLee, special family member, Dave Church, Columbus OH, and best friends, Lloyd and Becky Glydewell, Springfield, OH. Unfortunately, Neal never got to meet his newest great grandson, KingsLee. Neal is also survived by 2 sisters: Lorrie Bernal, Orlando, FL and Dorothea Randall, Syracuse, NY; nieces, nephews, cousins, motorcycle friends, co-workers, park members, and Pams extended family, and many, many special friends over the years. Neal loved his family and never met a stranger and was a special caring person. He truly will be missed by his wife, Pam and Jazzi, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and everyone who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lester and Mary Rouse Marshfield; brother: Gene Marshfield; brothers-in-law: Richard Randall and Jerry Bernal; and great nephew, Shawn Marshfield. Neal was an organ donor. Unfortunately, due to his ill health, his organs could not be harvested, but fortunately, his corneas were. Thanks to Neal, two people will be given the gift of sight.
