Obituary

Myron Errol Vickers died on May 28, 2015 at Gulf Regional Hospice in Zephyrhills, Florida at the age of 76. Myron is predeceased by his parents Thomas Henry Vickers and Lottie Rena Vickers. His elder brother Raymond Wiley and his wife Lorretta Wiley. His elder brother Sam Wiley and his wife Ruth Wiley. Myron is survived by his wife of 47 plus years, Phyllis Ann Vickers. They were married in Skowhegan, Maine on December 30th, 1967.Myron is lovingly remembered by his children: his son Phillip David Vickers and his wife Debra Vickers, of Allen, Texas; his son Michael A. Vickers of Zephyrhills, Florida; his daughter Cathy-Jo Bowman-Vickers and her wife Vicki Lynn Bowman-Vickers of Skowhegan, Maine. His only grandchild, Alyssa Lynn Vickers of Texas. His nephews: Thomas Wiley; Raymond Wiley; David Wiley; James Hennigar; DJ Hazard. His Nieces: Noreen Wiley; Tammy Hardy.Myron was born in Skowhegan, Maine on November 3rd, 1938. He graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 1959. He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. Myron was a Master Electrician by trade and worked for many years at Bath Iron Works and Suttie's Electric. Myron fondly reminisced about his early employment at Woolworths Department Store in Skowhegan, Maine.Myron was an accomplished model builder all of his life, building models of circuses, carnivals and fairs. Myron created a replica of the World of Mirth Shows from the 1940's that will be a major display at the Independent Showman's Museum in Riverview, Florida when they open. He was President of the Pinetree Showman's Association and life long member. Myron was #999 of The Circus Model Builders and Owners Association and belonged to Jim Parker's Ring. Myron proudly served as a Volunteer Firefighter for 27 years in Skowhegan, Maine. Myron was a proud member of the Mason's and the Shriner's Associations. He volunteered for many years at performances of the Shrine Circus in Maine. A memorial gathering will be at Smarts Edwards Funeral Home on Dyer Street in Skowhegan, Maine on July 2nd, 2015 from 4 PM to 7 PM.
