Obituary

Morgan Luther Evans ("Skip")

Morgan Luther Evans, affectionately known to family and friends as "Skip," passed away peacefully at his home in Dade City, Florida, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the age of 69.

Skip was born on March 11, 1957, in Dade City, Florida, to Luther Bennett Sr. and Helen Arnold Evans. A lifelong resident of Dade City, he attended Pasco County Schools and built a life rooted in family, friendship, and service to others.

Skip found happiness in life's simple pleasures and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and gathering family and friends around the grill for good food, laughter, and fellowship. Gifted with a natural ability to work on automobiles and complete handyman projects, he was always willing to lend a helping hand. His generosity, strong work ethic, and dependable nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Those who knew Skip will remember him as a charismatic, caring, and free-spirited man whose warm personality drew people in. He was charming, confident, creative, and independent, approaching life with optimism and enthusiasm. Resourceful, persistent, and spontaneous, he embraced each day with gratitude and made the most of every opportunity.

Even during times when his health was declining, Skip continued to demonstrate remarkable compassion and selflessness. Whenever he was able, he freely offered encouragement, practical assistance, and unwavering support to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. He especially enjoyed expressing his love through preparing meals and sharing them with others. His resilient spirit, generous heart, and genuine kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Skip is lovingly survived by his children, Morgan Luther Evans Jr. (Jamal Barnes-Evans) of Camp Humphreys, Korea, Michelle Evans (Mindy), and Cindy Evans of Orlando, Florida; his grandson, Malik Jawaan Evans of Daleville, Alabama; and his sisters, Helene Evans of Westfield, New Jersey, Hope Degroot of Hillside, New Jersey, and Michelle Harris of Temple Hills, Maryland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Bennett Sr. and Helen Arnold Evans; his grandparents, Charles and Gussie Arnold and Morgan and Emma Bennett; his sisters, Donetha Morrell, Annabelle Standifer, and Blossie Massop; his brother, Luther Bennett Jr.; his nephews, Leon Bennett, Phillip Bennett, and Charles Fiddler; and his nieces, Fannie Sims and Rosa Hill.

A celebration of Skip's life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church in Dade City, Florida. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hodges Family Funeral Home.

Though Skip's presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of generosity, resilience, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the lives of all who were blessed to know him.
