Michael D. VanOosten (Mikey), from Bushnell, Fl unexpectedly began his next journey on Wednesday November 9, 2022. Mike lived life the way he wanted with much humor, joy, kindness and taking adventures with his always present sidekick Carol. Mike just loved to find a great deal and a good Happy Hour. He always made a point of asking people for their names and addressing them by name. It didnt matter if it was a server, someone at an event or even just someone passing by that he happened to talk to. His expression "if I go tomorrow, I have had a great ride" rings true. Mike was born and lived in Grand Rapids and Belmont, MI. He graduated from Grand Rapids Central High School and worked as a cooler boy at Bobs Bar which he continued while working at Steelcase. Mike met his soul mate, Carol, while working at that bar. Mike worked at Steelcase desk plant for 32 years where he was assistant supervisor, improvement facilitator and wore many other hats. This is where he met his bestie, Jeff and began a lifelong very strong friendship. Mike retired 17 years ago and he and Carol lived life to the fullest all of those years. Mike was very proud of his country and spent 4 years in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany and Wurtsmith, MI. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years Carol, son(step) Rob (Kris), 3 grandboys Mitchell, Alek and Zakary. He is also survived by siblings Bob (Cara), Jim (Ann) Sue (Dave) and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents Dennis and Barbara VanOosten and sister Deb Mullinnex. Celebration of Life with be forthcoming.
