Obituary

Michael Ray Montgomery, 68, of Webster, FL, passed away on February 15, 2025. Born on February 24, 1956, in Columbus, GA, Michael was the son of William and Reba Montgomery. He was survived by his sister, Deborah Britton (Wayne), and his brothers, Terry Montgomery (Becky) and Christopher Montgomery (Renee).

He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Pat Montgomery, his daughters Christina Keller (Gerry), Michelle McPeek (Scott), Jennifer Yorke (Dave), and Dana Foster (James) and his cherished grandchildren, Haven, Brandon, Aubrey, Austin, Matthew, Rachel, Madelynn and James. Michael was also deeply loved by his beloved dog, Piper.

Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-law, Carlo Torra (Beth), sister-in-law, Dawn Barton (Carl) and numerous nieces and nephews: Ashley Peabody (Matt), Alicia Riberdy, Terry Montgomery Jr. (Olivia), John Torra (Marissa), David Torra, Jayme Graham, Michael Torra, Hope Montgomery, Deliah Montgomery and many others.

A lifelong learner, Michael had a profound love for education, earning several associate degrees throughout his life. Above all, he found fulfillment in his family, embracing his role as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Michael was a true jack-of-all-trades, always eager to explore new challenges, hone new skills, and master whatever he set his mind to. His passion for games, particularly card games, brought him joy whether he was with family, friends, or a stranger-soon to be friend.

A passionate traveler, Michael journeyed across the U.S., Canada and abroad, making lasting memories and seeking new experiences. His heart, however, belonged to animals—his dogs, in particular, were more than just pets; they were family. His warmth, curiosity, and zest for life left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Michael proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years, retiring as a Senior Chief. Afterward, he worked for 15 years at GEICO as a claims associate before moving on to serve as the grounds manager at Oak Alley RV Resort.

While no memorial service will be held, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Michael's memory to Veterans Affairs.

Michael's legacy of love, adventure, and unwavering dedication will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
