IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melvin Allen
Madill
October 21, 1932 – March 25, 2018
Madill, Melvin "Allen", 85, of Dade City went to his heavenly home on March 25, while under the care of Heritage Park Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a lifelong resident of Dade City and a 1950 graduate of Pasco High School. He served in the National Guard, was Dade Citys first full time Fire Chief, and served as Pasco Countys Welfare Director as well as the Director of Civil Defense. He was the first in the county to use the rebreather/aqua lung, retrieving numerous bodies for the county. He was a catcher on his high school baseball team and carried his love for baseball into coaching little league when his boys were of age to play. Allens sense of adventure saw him taking the children hiking on the Appalachian trail, wind jamming in the Caribbean, fishing in the Gulf, camping or anything else they could get into. Allen worked in the trucking industry for a number of years as well as the construction industry.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Nina and Warren Madill, brothers, Edwin, James, and Lawrence, and a sister, Bonnie May (Barfield) Dail. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn, 5 children, Marsha of Loveland, CO., Linda (Randy, now deceased) of Loveland, CO., Melvin (DeDe) of Weeki Wachee, Jack (Andrea) of Dade City, Chris (Connie) of Dade City, 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, sisters, Mary Lee Parsons of Zephyrhills and Ninetta Powell of Roswell, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dade City Adult Day Care Facility, Cares, or the Dade City Fire Department will be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Dade City on April 7th at 11:00 AM. Arrangements have been made by Hodges Family Funeral Home.
