Obituary

Meg Ann McConnell, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on December 20, 2025. She was born on September 25, 1959, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Meg grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, where she attended school before settling in Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood. It was there that she met the love of her life, John McConnell. Together, they built a life rooted in partnership, warmth, faith, and family. After their years in the city, Meg and John moved to Wayland, where they raised their three children and created a home filled with love, laughter, and deep connection. One of Meg's most treasured traditions was gathering her family around the dinner table each night — always set with candlelight — a simple ritual that reflected the care and intention she brought to everyday life.

Meg is survived by her husband, John McConnell; her children, Mary, Justin, and Matthew; her son-in-law, Brian Clarke; her son-in-law, Dane Lemeris; her beloved grandchildren, Jack and Kelly Clarke and Mason McConnell; her sisters, Amy Newell and Susan Colliton; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Julie Colliton. Family was always at the center of Meg's world, and she took unmistakable and immense pride in those she loved.

Meg held a special affection for Vermont, where her family spent countless cherished seasons together. Winters were marked by skiing, summers by swimming in the lake, and every visit by the quiet contentment she found in the beauty of the mountains. Vermont was both a refuge and a source of deep joy for her.

In retirement, Meg and John relocated to Florida, where she found renewed purpose through volunteering in her community, especially at the St. André Free Clinic. Serving the less fortunate was work she embraced wholeheartedly and stood as a testament to her deep compassion and lifelong commitment to caring for others.

Meg will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle strength, her unwavering love for family and friends — and, of course, her impeccable sense of style. She is deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or any charity of your choice.

A wake will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida. A Catholic funeral service will take place on Monday, January 12, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 10 am. A celebration of Meg's life to follow in the New England area in the coming months, giving family and friends another opportunity to come together to remember and honor her.
