Maureen Rose Smith (Sivigny) passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born on June 5th, 1950 in Hartford, CT to Robert and Mary Ann Sivigny. Maureen received her Bachelors degree from Central Connecticut State University in Elementary/Middle Education and her Masters Degree from The Citadel in Charleston, SC. She taught English for over 17 years in Goose Creek, SC. After her teaching career, she worked in the Education field as a freelance education advisor and adjunct faculty for The University of Phoenix. She then followed her "girls", her daughter and grand-daughters, and son-in-law, throughout their military moves through FL, DE, NC, NY, and finally back to FL. Maureen was a huge fan of UCONN Womens basketball, the NY Giants, and the Boston Red Socks. That love of sports was passed onto her daughter. She is preceded in death by her mother and father. Maureen is survived by her daughter: Michelle Smith Williams (Bruce) sister : Susan Iudiciani (Sivigny); grandchildren: Alexzandria Williams and Abigayle Williams; great-granddaughter Charlotte Rose; nieces: Melissa McGuigan and Rehena Ruffino. The family would like to thank the staff of Compass Rose Assisted Living facility for their unwavering and continued support over the years that Maureen was a resident along her very loyal roommate Mary Olson for her friendship.
