Mary Velez Diaz age 64 of Wesley Chapel, Florida passed away on July 8, 2020.She was born November 17, 1955, in New York, New York, and was the youngest of 11 children of her parents Pedro and Carmen Velez.

She is survived by her husband Eddie Diaz of 27 years, her two sisters Monserate Velez, Mercedes Velez, and one brother Charles Velez.

She was a beloved aunt to a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was very attentive and helped raise most of them, some of them were in her age group and she bonded with them as though they were her siblings.

She loved cats and dogs, before moving to Florida she worked for many years at the ASPCA and encouraged everyone to adopt a pet from shelters. When she moved to Florida, she was employed at the University of South Florida. She was an avid reader, a history buff, and loved to debate about politics.

Though her health was not the best, she loved life, her husband, and her family. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel on Monday, July 13, from 10 am to 11 am. The funeral service will begin at 11 am followed by burial at Chapel Hill Gardens.Arrangements by Hodges Family Funeral Home 301 Chapel, Dade City, Fl.
