Obituary

Mary Catherine Beaumont Schrader (January 30, 1932-December 5, 2020)

The Schrader family is sad to announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, "Grandma Mim", on Saturday December 5 th. She died at home surrounded by her family. Mary was the daughter of Madaline and Thomas Beaumont, both deceased.

Mary was born in San Antonio, Florida. She moved as an infant to Sewickley, Pennsylvania as 3 rd in line of eight children. When Mary was ten years old, the family returned to San Antonio where she attended St. Anthonys Parochial School, and Holy Name Academy. Shortly after graduation she married Arthur Schrader and welcomed six beautiful children into their family.

Mary was an outgoing and active member of the local San Antonio community. She made everyone she met feel welcomed and loved. Newcomers in particular remember her thoughtful kindness as she introduced them to others and the community life of San Ann.

Mary and her family belonged to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and all of the children attended Saint Anthonys School. She was an active member and past President of the St. Anthonys Catholic Womens Club, a 30 year member of St. Anthonys Choir, a member of the Saint Anthonys School Endowment Fund. She was a past president, and founding member of The Founders Garden Club, a member of the Pasco County Fair Association and a 4-H leader as well when her children were young. She was a Charter Member of The Florida Pioneer Museum. Mary and her husband, Art donated the land for the Schrader Elementary School at Bayonet Point. In 2012 she received The Florida Benedictine Award from St. Leo Abbey, Holy Name Monastery and Saint Leo University.

Mary loved to take trips with her husband and their friends. Favorite places were Salt Springs, Florida with children, cousins and friends when she was a young mother. Later she enjoyed time spent at Ormond Beach, FL, Maggie Valley, North Carolina, and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She was always game to join in whatever fun was planned including whitewater rafting, snow skiing, crafting, or just playing cards and games. She enjoyed painting, writing poetry and short stories, quilting, needlepoint, and hand painting furniture.

Marys family was the joy of her life. She entertained her grandchildren with her antics and songs and they spent many hours at her home enjoying her company long into adulthood.

The community will remember her as a joyful and fun loving character. She was a member of The Red Hat Society and later, The Leading Ladies. She loved nothing more than dressing up for Halloween or performing skits and acting in local theater, participating in many variety shows and plays. She loved dancing the Jitterbug and singing at parties and family reunions

Mary is survived by her children, Tom Schrader, Terry Schrader (Laura), Ted Schrader, Peggy Schrader Barons (Mark) of Lexington, MA and Mary Kay Schrader Caroe (Tim), of Woodbury CT, 18 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, her sister Jeanne (Tom) of Pittsburgh, PA, her brother, Bill (JoAnn) of Fort Myers, FL, and her sister, Madeline Beaumont Peterson (Tom) of Dade City. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and also her loving caregiver of the past six years, Stella Parra, who was her constant companion, and dear beloved friend.

Mary is predeceased by her husband Art Schrader, son Jerry Schrader, daughter-in-law Patty Schrader, grandson Luke Schrader, her brothers, Tom Beaumont, Bo Beaumont, David Beaumont, and Tim Beaumont.

She will be greatly missed by her family and the entire community.
