Mary Alice Lachance, age 91, of San Antonio, FL passed away on June 5, 2023. Mary was born in Lewiston, Maine on December 12, 1931, to parents Norman and Elizabeth (Fitzpatrick) Purington who preceded her in death along with her husband, Edmund Joseph Lachance, Thomas J. Lachance, (son), and William Madigan. Mary was married to her high school sweetheart, Edmund Joseph Lachance in 1951. They were married for fifty years. Mary was a mother of five and a U.S. Air Force wife. Together they lived in Cheyenne, WY, Casablanca, Morocco, Ocean Springs, MS, Evansville, IN, and finally at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. In 1971, they moved to Dade City, FL. Mary is survived by: Michael (Laurie), Ann Arbor, MI, Judith Kendrick (William), San Antonio, FL, David (Laura) Chattanooga, TN, John (Laura) Murphy, NC, Loraine Lachance, Dade City, FL, 12 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren. Mary graduated from St. Leo College in 1977 with a bachelor's degree. She taught math at Pasco Junior High from 1977-1987. Mary was a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Womens Club. She was also very active in The Day-Z Garden Club, Red Hats, and Leading Ladies, and was a volunteer in her daughters classroom, at San Antonio Elementary School. Mary was a big Tampa Bay Rays, Bucs, and Bandits fan! She loved to play bridge and travel. She enjoyed the beach and spending summers in Michigan and North Carolina. Mary always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was everyones Grandmother! There will be a Rosary starting at 9:30, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, in San Antonio, FL on Saturday, June 17, 2023, Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Mary Lachance, to St. Anthony Catholic School, 12155 Joe Herrmann Drive, San Antonio, FL 33576.
