Mary Ida Covington 85, of Dade City, FL passed away Wednesday, December 22nd, 2021. She was born November 8, 1936, in Americus, GA to George Tower Council and Elizabeth McKee Rainey Council. She shared 47 years with the love of her life, Munro "Flick" Covington, before he passed away 20 years ago. They raised four children and had multiple grandchildren. When younger, she was an avid water skier. She was a fantastic cook and loved to paint. She loved all types of music from Roy Orbison to classical opera. Her greatest joy was found in being a mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the Dade City Church of Christ all of her life and loved the Lord with all her heart. She will be missed by every life she touched, especially her children and grandchildren. Mary is survived by 4 children: Edward Munro Covington III, David Covington (Diana), Betsy Covington Puterbaugh (Fred), Claudia Covington Wrucha (Scott); her brother John Rainey Council (Geraldine); 9 Grandchildren: Eric Covington (Mindy), Christopher Covington (April), Melissa Covington Buzze (Glenn), Noah Oelkers (Jessica), Rainey Angerosa (Nick), Cole Puterbaugh (Veronica), Seth Puterbaugh (Hayley), Luke Wrucha, Logan Wrucha; 16 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Flick Covington, her sister Sarah Council, and her brother George Council. A Celebration of her Life will be held 6:30pm Saturday, January 8th, 2022, at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice of Bradenton.
