Marvin G. "Big Boy" Meeks 75, of Dade City passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019. He was born November 21, 1943 in Doerun, GA to Marvin Jackson & Mary Etta Dingler Meeks and moved to Dade City 29 years ago from Plant City, FL. He retired from Tampa Electric Company after 42 years of service and was a member of the Pasadena Baptist Church and the Dade City Kiwanis Club. Marvin is survived by his wife: Joyce Meeks; 3 children: Marvin Meeks Jr., Missy & Ernie Pruitt, Christy & Harry Hicks; 6 grandchildren: Aleisha & Adam Gilreath, Staci Long, Austin Clark, Jahquaye Hicks, Javian Hicks, Amaya Hicks; 3 great grandchildren: Ansley Gilreath, Cooper Gilreath, Aurora Long; 2 brothers: Johnny & Helen Meeks, Jackie & Jenny Meeks; 6 sisters: Allene Carton, Earlene Pace, Faye Douglass, Maylene Shackelford, Dessa Rowe, Melba Talley; numerous nieces, nephews, blended families and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin J. & Mary Etta Meeks and sister: Jearlene Daughtry. A Celebration of his Life will be held 2pm Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. The family will receive friends for viewing one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Moffitt Cancer Research Center in Marvin's memory.
