Obituary

Cirks, Marvin Sr., 85 of Zephyrhills, Florida passed away at Gulfside Hospice on November 24, 2024. Born to Ollie and Mable Cirks on April 5th, 1939, in Minonk, IL, he married his lifelong love Jane Carter on September 27th, 1958.

He is survived by his loving wife Jane of 66 years, 3 devoted daughters, Kathleen (Mike) Tumbleson of Lutz, FL, Pamela McLane of Lutz, FL, and Dawn (Danny) Gutcher of Trinity, FL, 10 grandchildren Jay, Jessica (Bryan), Shanna (Nick), Ryan, Amber (Danny), Brent, Nicole (Charles), Kacie (Derrick), Taelor and Zackary, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild, 1 sister Evelyn (Don) Turner and 1 brother Ray (Teresa) Cirks, many nieces and nephews, and all his friends at Oak Royal III.

Marvin is preceded in death by his son Marvin Jr, his sister Darlene (Kenny) Reese and brother Don (Carol) Cirks and his parents.

Marvin never met a stranger. He would give you the shirt off his back and was never afraid to take a leap of faith into the next adventure. He was well known for his southern breakfast, homemade ice cream and even designed his own fishing worm, the Pepper Worm. Marvin was an avid fisherman and previous owner of C's Fish Camp in Hawthorne, FL, he owned Southeastern Contracting & Door and was a retired Realtor.

Marvin left a legacy of service to his community as a member of the HOA Board, Committee Member, Men's Club, the men's work group and volunteered as the summer Pool keeper many times. He was active in group activities over the years, you would find him playing cards or dominoes or filling your juice glass at men's breakfasts or getting his golf cart decorated for the big Christmas parade! For many years Marvin was the "realtor of choice" for many Oaks Royal III residents. When he finally retired, a dirty word to Marvin, he took up as an "Uber driver" with many a resident being chauffeured to and from the airport by him!

Marvin liked the people most of all. Talking to his friends. Shooting the breeze or bragging about Jane's latest needle point project. His love for Jane was evident every time they were together. If you ever went over to visit, he could help but show off whatever Jane was doing, he was so proud. So much in love!

A memorial service to honor Marvin's life will be held Friday, December 13th at Hodges Funeral Hodge Home on U.S. 301, Dade City. Visitation at 10 AM, services at 12PM and internment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gulfside Hospice @ www.gulfside.org.

Marvin loved his friends and family and his passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through the many memories, lessons, and love he shared with family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
