IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha G.
Charest
September 16, 1941 – May 9, 2022
Martha G. (McLean) Charest (80) of Zephyrhills Florida, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, May 9, 2022.
Born and raised in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, Martha graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1959 as the class Valedictorian.
Martha married the love of her life, Donald Charest, on May 6, 1961, recently celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary together.
A graduate from Katharine Gibbs School in Providence, RI, she also graduated from Fisher Junior College where she earned her Associates Degree. In 1994, Martha moved to Zephyrhills, FL with her husband Don to enjoy retirement in the sunshine and warmer weather. Although living in Florida for nearly 28 years, Martha never lost her New England accent and retained her love for Lobster rolls.
She is survived by Don and her children, Robin (Mike) Mohammed (Sarasota, FL), Eric (Kathy) Charest (Vero Beach, FL) and 3 grandchildren Amanda Mohammed, Nicole Charest, and Alex Charest. She is also survived by her sister Meredith Tuxbury and niece Holly (Zephyrhills, FL). She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Ethel (Dunham) McLean and sister Marian (McLean) Couture.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Martha was recognized for her smile, positive attitude, and focus on family. Not a conversation would go by in which she could not find a way to circle the conversation back on to family, primarily focusing on her grandkids and their many accomplishments.
Often seen with a camera in her hand, Martha enjoyed traveling with family and friends. After returning from trips, she spent many hours cropping, printing and sharing her photos. For those of you that werent lucky enough to go on the trip, her photos could recreate many of the highlights of the adventure. Martha was an avid golfer, bingo, card game enthusiast and life-long "crafter". Among her many crafts, she enjoyed knitting, quilting, cross stitch, and many forms of greeting card making. Her hand-made cards have brought joy not only to family members and close friends, but also through donations of the cards to various organizations. Service members overseas were some of the recipients of her cards through Operation Write Home. Locally, Marthas cards were distributed through Meals on Wheels and Gulfside Hospice. Martha had a room in her house dedicated for her crafts, lights on at all hours of the night were a clear indication that she was creating another one of her thousands of cards, adorning each work of art with her signature stamp and American flag on the back.
Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we request donations to East Pasco Meals on Wheels in Martha Charests honor.
