On Friday, August 31, 2018, Marissa Inez Jeter passed away at the age of 22.

Marissa (Rissie) was born on July 24, 1996, in Dade City, Florida. She was diagnosed with Type 1 (Juvenile) Diabetes shortly after turning five and suffered many complications of this disease throughout her short life.

Marissa attended Dade City public schools and enjoyed cheerleading at Centennial Middle School as well as Pasco High School. She was also a competitive gymnast at Lightning City Gymnastics in Tampa and danced with Blackwood Studios for years. Marissa was quick to laugh, loved to dance, and loved her family and friends immensely.

Marissa is survived by her mother, Karen Lynn Jeter, grandparents, Jeff and Sue Jeter, uncles and aunts, Jeff Jeter (Sarah Ivie) and Johnny Jeter (Shannon), cousins, Todd Jeter (Kimberly), Isaac Jeter and Nathan Jeter, as well as by her new second cousin, Willow, daughter of Todd and Kimberly, as well as numerous great aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her great-grandparents, J.F. (Daddy Jete) and Inez (Mama Nez) Jeter, and Johnnie (Paw Paw) and Ruth (Maw Maw) Burrell, great uncles, Donald Russell and Book Thomas, great aunt, Frances Jackson, and cousin Ronnie Thomas.

Services will be held at Hodges Family Funeral Home on Highway 301 in Dade City. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5. Rissies funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Chapel Hill Gardens. Donations may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to a mental health service of your choice.
