Marilyn Louise Gober (Mom) of Zephyrhills, Florida passed away peacefully at age 87 on
Tuesday February 25th, 2025 in Zephyrhills, Florida
She was born July 29th, 1937 in North Victory, New York to parents Allen and Bessie Blanchard.
She was the youngest of four siblings with Virginia, Jim, and Carol preceding her.
She was raised on the family farm in North Victory where she graduated from Red Creek Central
School in 1954. She married Jack McGibbon in 1955 and had a daughter Melanie in 1959. She
was later divorced and remarried in July 1964 to Marion Gober and they had 3 more children,
Tim in 1965, Dave in 1967 and Kimberly in 1971. In 1972 they moved from North Victory to
Cato, New York where they purchased their first home and raised their four children.
She worked at Cato Show Print for several years, where she met Marion, before the plant was
closed down. She then worked at Increda Meal in the Cato area before going to work at the
Holiday Inn in Liverpool, New York as a housekeeper all while raising their four children. They
retired in 1998 spending time between Cato and their new home in Zephyrhills then in 2005
they permanently moved to Zephyrhills.
Mom loved tending to the garden growing all types of fruit, vegetables, and flowers. She would
also can tomatoes and make fresh strawberry jam every year. She loved to cook and bake pies,
that were her specialty, which she learned from her mother. After her husband passed 2006 she
enjoyed time with her family at Tim's place in Montana and Idaho. One of her favorite things to
do was mow the lower pasture on the tractor and make strawberry rhubarb pie.
Marilyn is survived by her children Melanie Gober (Janet) of Zephyrhills Florida, Tim Gober
(Laurie) of Sagle, Idaho, Dave Gober (Melchie) of Ellenwood, Georgia, Kimberly Giovanni (Jose)
of Fairburn, Georgia. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several
nieces, nephews , cousins and in laws.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Allen and Bessie, husband Marion, brother
James, sister Virginia, sister Carol and dear friend Larry Woosnam.
Visitation will be at Hodges Family Funeral Home at 36327 SR 54, Zephyrhills, Florida 33541 on
Friday March 7 th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Services will be held Saturday, March 8th at 10:00am
at Hodges Family Funeral Home with interment at Oakside Cemetery First Street, Zephyrhills
