Mariellen Blackstone, age 69, of Dade City, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021. She was a graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelors in Nursing. During her career she worked as an ICU nurse, neonatal intensive care nurse, and over 35 years as a cardiac rehab nurse. She was an active member of the Lake Jovita Womens Club. At Lake Jovita she was on the program committee for many years and one of the primary organizers of the Fashion Show, while also giving a helping hand to many other functions. She loved to travel, covering much of the United States, while also visiting Italy, Scotland, Ireland, and the African Serengeti to name a few. She enjoyed fitness as a regular at spin and yoga class, and later in life she developed a love/hate relationship with golf.
Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Helen Fortunato; and sister Janet Weinstock. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband, Harry Blackstone; son, AJ Blackstone; daughter, Sara Smith; brother, Gary Fortunato; Grandsons, Michael and Ryan; and other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 14th, 2021 at Lake Jovita Country Club. The family would like to thank all for the outpouring of love and support.
