Marie L. Massey, a native of Trilby, FL was the descendant of Trilby Pioneer Settlers, and the daughter of William (Willie) Croft Jr., and Mary W. Trowell Croft. Marie was a 50 plus year member of Trilby Chapter 89 Order of Eastern Star, where her grandparents were Charter Members themselves. She was also a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Bushnell. Preceded in death by her husband Ned Massey Sr., son Ned Massey Jr, and daughter Joy (Sweat) Woodham. Marie is survived by son Jimmy (Sweat), Gregory (Sally) of Spring Hill, Tenn, Granddaughters Debbie Shelton, Blountstown, FL, Tammy Fowler, Panama City, FL, Ashley Shay, Ocala, FL. Also survived by eight great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Marie was also David Akers other mother; they had a mother-son relationship since 1991. David has been her health surrogate since 2016.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am. Interment will follow at Trilby Cemetery.
