Obituary

On Tuesday, February 4th, 2020, Mariamma Thomas "Amachi" passed gently in her sleep and entered the Lords embrace, at the age of 85.

Amachi was born on November 1st, 1935 to Chacko & Rachel. Amachi, the youngest child of six, was born and raised in Thiruvalla, Kerala India. She had a close relationship with both her parents and would often joke that she was her fathers favorite child. Until she was twelve years old, India was under British rule. She told stories of returning home from school as a little girl to find British soldiers in her village.

Amachi married Mr. Thomas Koshy and sent on to have four beautiful children. They enjoyed more than thirty years of wedded bliss together before his passing in 1986. Amachi persisted and continued to serve as a foundation of strength, determination, and hope for her family. She worked tirelessly to ensure the preservation of her family and for her dream of success for each of her children. Practicing as a devout Catholic her entire life, Amachi raised all of her children with a strong, passionate heart for Jesus Christ.

Amachi migrated to the United States in 1993, where she lived with her second daughter, Lucy and her family in New York for about 15 years. She embraced her new role as a grandmother and cherished each of her grandchildren. Shortly after, in 2003, she became a citizen of the United States. She later moved to Florida with her son Roby and lived with him and his family until the time of her passing.

Amachi is survived by her four children: Lissy, Lucy, Laicy, and Roby; her beloved sons-in-law: Wilson, John and Benji; and precious daughter-in-law Sharlet; her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A matriarch to her family, Amachis devotion to her loved ones was rivaled only by her adoration for God.

Amachi was a woman of love and joy, who modeled her life according to scripture. Her early life was one of hardship and struggle, and yet she persevered over all her adversities to provide a better life for her family. Beloved, esteemed and adored, Amachi was always be very sorely missed by her family. While we celebrate her life and the love that she shared, we are confident that she now rests in peace and comfort in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
