Margarite Joy (Scruggs) Smith, 85, of Dade City died peacefully February 17, 2020 in Tampa, FL.

She was born in Mobile, AL to the late Jesse & Katie Scrubbs. She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Smith, and their two sons: James Scruggs & David Smith.

She is survived by three children: Marie Wood, of Dade City, Billy Smith of Trilby & Bobby Smith of Dade City. She is also survived by six siblings, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Margarite worked at Lykes Pasco for over 20 years before retiring. She enjoyed fellowship at Grace Baptist Church. She was loved by all and will be missed.

Viewing will take place Thursday February 20th from 5:30-6:00 pm with service to begin at 6:00 pm at the 54 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Zephyrhills (36327 S.R. 54). Burial will take place at the Florida National Cemetery Friday, February 21st at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
