Margaret " Peggy" Ann Risdon age 86, of Dade City passed away Monday, March 27th, 2023. Peggy was born in Washington DC to parents Elmer and Clara (Winters) Boteler who preceded her in death along with her brothers Charles "Buddy" Boteler and Elmer "Sonny" Wayne Boteler. She leaves behind her sister Betty Robertson. Peggy grew up in Maryland and lived in many places during her lifetime including Ohio, New York, Virginia, and Florida. She and her husband John retired and moved to Punta Gorda, Florida. After hurricane Charlie they moved to Lake Jovita in Dade City. They recently moved to American House in Zephyrhills. Peggy had many hobbies and interests, she enjoyed her grandchildren, was an avid reader, and was a regular at the local library, she played the saxophone in high school and the electric organ as an adult. She also was in the handbell choir at her church in Punta Gorda. She loved playing card games and board games. She discovered she really enjoyed golfing and even had two hole-in-ones. Peggy was active in the various churches she attended, she taught children's Sunday school classes, and vacation bible school, and typed the bulletin for one of the churches she belonged to. She also participated in the Love Your Neighbor dinners with the adult Sunday school at First United Methodist Church in Dade City. She loved to crochet and gifted many with baby blankets. While living in Punta Gorda she volunteered for Hospice, sitting with patients when family caregivers needed to leave home and cooking food for the Hospice Center. She also volunteered at Pasco Elementary in Dade City and was awarded the Outstanding RSVP Volunteer of the year award in 2011. She leaves behind her loving husband of 66 years John F Risdon who she met when she was 13 years old. Her children are Pamela (John), John (Diane) Kenneth ( Beth), and Jennifer( partner Dave). She leaves behind her grandchildren, Lindsey, Emily, J.J, Kevin, Sam, Emma, Gavin, and Owen, and great-grandchildren, Keoni, Carson, and Alana. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023 from 1 pm to 2 pm at Hodges Family Funeral Home 301 Chapel Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm. Burial will be the following day at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte Fl. Arrangements are under the care of Hodges Family Funeral Home 301 Chapel Dade City, FL.
