Dr. Luis "Toty" Eduardo Tenorio Magallon passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, in San Antonio, Florida, at the age of 85.
Born on September 23, 1939, in Panama City, Republic of Panama, Toty was the beloved son of Alicia Magallon Tenorio and Sylvestre Antonio Tenorio. He shared his childhood with his dear sisters Graciela Esther Tenorio Magallon and Maria Del Carmen Tenorio Magallon; and brothers Sylvestre Tenorio and Diego Antonio Tenorio.
Toty dedicated his life to medicine, earning his education at the University of Panama and continuing his studies in nuclear medicine at John Hopkins University before receiving board certification from the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. Toty dedicated several decades of his life serving others through his career in medicine. He began his medical service at the Caja de Seguro Social in Panama, culminating with his contributions to medical advancements in his role as Chief of Nuclear Medicine at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
On November 3, 1964, Toty fell in love at first sight with Leyda Judith Tenorio Cuevas, and on June 10, 1967, Toty married the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising their three daughters, Lyzbeth, Lyneth (Brian Rhoten), and Lissette, who brought them immense pride and joy.
Beyond his professional achievements, Toty had a deep love for the arts, particularly painting and drawing. He also enjoyed bakeries of any kind (really just the sweets contained therein), dancing, shopping, reading, and, most importantly, spending time in the company of his loved ones. Throughout his life, he cherished creating lasting memories with his family and friends he loved taking pictures to memorialize all of life's precious moments.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. Toty is survived by his devoted wife, Leyda, his three daughters, and his cherished grandchildren, Kenneth Marc Jones, Major Ryan Rhoten, Bailey Elisabeth Rhoten, and Angelina Marie Schorsch.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all of those he knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, at 9016 Fort King Road in Dade City, Florida, on February 8th. The family will accept friends and guests from 12:00 to 12:30, with a service to begin at 12:30 PM.
In remembrance of Toty's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
