ALLEN, Louise Sloan 91 of Groveland died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 in Orlando. Louise was born at Sloans Ridge in Lake County, FL to Manuel & Mollie (Hunt) Sloan. She attended school in Groveland and was a graduate of Groveland High School, where she stayed busy with many activities, playing sports and cheerleading. She was always forward thinking and looking for something else to learn. In an attempt to satisfy her deep desire to learn as much as possible, Louise then attended a business college to further educate herself. She was a remarkable lady, having accomplished many things in her life from horseback riding as a young girl to working at Kennedy Space Center, where she worked on the Apollo program, to being an EMT, and a Real Estate Broker. Louises family was extremely important to her as she spent many hours researching the family genealogy, she was an extremely proud democrat, and had a great passion for the Womans National Democratic Club and attended the Democratic National Convention many times as a delegate. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Lake County Historical Society, an avid Florida State Fan, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. While living in North Carolina she spent many hours volunteering with Meals on Wheels, where she enjoyed checking in on the aging and the sick. Upon her return to Lake County, settling in Leesburg, she volunteered many hours packing lunches for the homeless. With her recent move back to Groveland she felt she had returned home and so enjoyed attending Edge United Methodist Church in Groveland where she was baptized as a young girl. Louise was preceded in death by the love of her life, Jack Allen on July 21, 2011, her parents and brothers G. P. Sloan & Herbert Sloan and Sister Vera Boyett. She is survived by her extended loving family of many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the sanctuary of Edge United Methodist Church, 441 S. Main Ave, Groveland, where services will begin at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest next to her parents at Empire Cemetery.
