Louis R. Freijo Jr., of Zephyrhills, Florida, died on April 1st, 2022 at 83 years old. Louis was born on May 2nd, 1938 to Mabel Stephens Freijo and Louis Freijo Sr. in Ybor City, Florida. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1957, then attended the University of Tampa for his freshman year on a music scholarship before joining the Army for a two-year stint. After returning to Tampa, he worked as a surveyor and later as a police officer for the City of Tampa for three years. The police department granted him a scholarship, allowing him to return to college full time at the University of South Florida. While working several jobs to support his family, he earned a BA in Education in 1970 and was eager to begin his career in education. Louis earned his MA degree in 1978. Starting in August of 1970, Louis spent 39 years working for Pasco County Schools, 19 of which were as an administrator, and 20 were in the classroom. He worked in a variety of positions, starting as a teacher, then as an Assistant Principal at Cox Elementary, then moving to Principal at West Zephyrhills Elementary. He then moved to Land O Lakes High School as an administrator. When he had the opportunity, he moved back to teaching fifth grade at Fox Hollow Elementary and ended his teaching career at Chester Taylor Elementary. He loved every part of those jobs, but his true passion was the time he spent teaching at the elementary level. During his time at Chester Taylor, Louis also helped found a tutoring company, A+ Freijo Tutoring, which he continued for a few years past his retirement. He is survived by his wife Glenda Freijo, brother Dr. Tom Freijo and wife Sandy, and children: Leigh Freijo and wife Dawn, Loreen Freijo-Gant, and husband Russell, Lyle Freijo and wife Laura, Luana Freijo-Nef and husband Jason, and Logan Freijo and wife Laura. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren: Brandon Judd, Lindsey Warfield and husband Mike; Nathaniel and Josiah Gant; Kira, Kacie, and Carter Freijo; Sean, Duncan, Harper, Vivian, Dillon, and Emily Nef; Faith and Logan Freijo Jr. Additionally, he is survived by three great-grandchildren: Kellan, Ezra, and Eliza Warfield. Funeral services will be held at Hodges Funeral Home, 11441 US 301, Dade City, FL, on Sunday, April 10th at 2:00 pm with Pastor Scott Harris and Jim Harn officiating.
