WEST, Lorraine Kennedy 79 of Milbridge, ME and Zephyrhills, FL passed away unexpectedly on January 28th, 2015 in Zephyrhills. She was born in Milbridge, the daughter of Leon and Eleanor Kennedy. Lorraine attended Gorham State Teachers College where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. After Graduation she started her teaching career. After graduation she started her teaching career in Revere, MA, for one year and then on to Belfast, ME for a year before returning to her home town of Milbridge and SAD 37 to finish her teaching career which lasted 36 years. She loved teaching and giving to her family and others which she did all her life. Lorraine was a very special person in many peoples lives and will be sorely missed. Lorraine and Carroll enjoyed the best of both worlds for many years, summers in Maine and winters in Florida where she and Carroll had many fond memories with family and friends. She was a member of the Maine Education Association Retired, Lambda Chapter-Delta Kappa Gamma International, National Education Association, and Order of Eastern Star. Lorraine is survived by her husband of 57 years Carroll West, one son Frank West and his fianc Darlene Stokes of Columbia Falls, one very special grandson Adam West and wife Brittany of Jonesboro, one cousin William Kelley, Sr. and wife Lorena of Steuben, one brother in law Herman West and his wife Nancy of Milbridge, one sister in law Sandy West of Steuben, as well as many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Milbridge Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Milbridge Congregational Church, P. O. Box 67 Milbridge, ME in her behalf.
