Obituary

Loreto "Lori" Marapao Castillo passed on August 16, 2025 at the age of 81 in Zephyrhills, Florida.

Lori was born to parents Maximo and Amparo Marapao on December 10, 1943 in Bohol, Philippines. She grew up with multiple brothers: Wilfredo Marapao and Gaudencio Marapao.

Lori later married Pacifico R. Castillo Jr. in December of 1966 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines. With Pacifico, she raised two children: Marie Bletso and Pacifico Castillo. Lori lived numerous places throughout her life, including her birthplace of Bohol in the Philippines, Deer Park, New York, as well as Cape Coral, Dade City, and Zephyrhills.

Lori's life was dedicated to a career in nursing, graduating from the Southern Islands Hospital School of Nursing in Cebu, Philippines. She also attended the College of Rochelle in New Rochelle, New York. Lori's passionate commitment to her patients was awarded with a position as Associate Director of Nursing in Harlem Hospital, New York.

Lori is survived by her children: Marie Bletso (Daryl), Pacifico Castillo (Herminia), Grandchildren: Dee Jay Bletso, Marisa Dahm (Johnathan), Siblings: Wilfredo Ondoy Marapao (Mabel), In-Laws: Venus Miranda (Brahman), Hercules "Lee" Castillo (Febe), Minerva Castillo, and Apollo Castillo (Phoebe), Nieces and Nephews: Ritchie Kim Marapao (Gagang), Ophelia Estorba (Dong), Wilma, Karen (Mark), Kenneth (Kim), John Mars Angco (Glenda), Joy Angco, Jay Angco (Stephanie), Bennett Cabiaza (Veronica), Jupiter Cabiaza (Julie), Derrick Torres (Madet), Dominic Torres (Keight), Mark (Angie), Brian Miranda, Brandon Castillo, Chloe Dela Vega, Jessica and Kelly Daniluk, Guadencio Jr., Ruby, Wiwit, RB, Plong, Jesse Jane, Cindy Josol.

Lori will also be fondly remembered by her numerous friends, with special mention to her 1966 Classmates from Southern Island Hospital School of Nursing, and the staff at Harlem: Coring Galleposo and Opie.

Loreto is predeceased by her beloved husband, Pacifico Castillo Jr. (2003), her siblings: Wilfredo Marapao (1944), Gaudencio Marapao (August 2021)

Lori will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her generous and loving spirit, her dedication to her family, and the light that she brought with her presence.

Services will be held for Loreto Castillo on Thursday, August 28th at 11:00 AM at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City, Florida.
