Lois Beverly Gorton died on October 23, 2021. Lois was born on September 30, 1937 to Cleo L. (Milks) Stevens
and Benjamin H. Stevens in McGraw NY. She graduated from McGraw High School in 1957 and attended
beauty school in Binghamton NY where she met her husband, Melvin "Mel" Gorton and were married
on November 27, 1957. They had 3 girls and moved from Binghamton NY to Webster NY and in 1993
moved to Wesley Chapel FL. Mel predeceased Lois on February 8, 2008 after 49 years of marriage.
Lois was active in 4H as teenager where she learned to sew throughout her life she made clothes for
her daughters, grandchildren and friends from prom dresses to wedding dresses to baby clothes and
beyond. She and the family were active in square dancing, camping and boating. An active hockey fan,
she cheered for the Tampa Bay Lightning for years going to as many games as she was able. She always
had a cup of tea and sweet treat for anyone who stopped by for conversation.
She is survived by her three daughters, Susan "Sue" Panazze (m. Robert "Rusty" Panazze) , Nancy Tate
(m. Lloyd "Sam" Tate) and Barbara Becker (m. John Becker) and grandchildren, Kellie Caldwell (Tim
Feyes), John "JR" Becker II, Nicole "Nikki" Caldwell, Lorraine Nelson (m. Kieran Nelson), Vanessa Tate,
Jonathan Tate and cousins, Sylvia Gorton and Joseph McFarland and 4 Nephews, Ken Gorton, Kevin
Gorton, Brian Gorton and David Gorton and many grand nieces and nephews and many "adopted family
members".
The memorial service is being planned at Timber Lake Estates Clubhouse in Wesley Chapel FL, on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 3:30pm. The
family is requesting any donations be made to the Herndon Pasco Hospice
